Our kids’ spring break just ended. Trees and flowers are blooming, and the clocks have skipped an hour. Although the official first day of Spring is March 19th, I’m pretty sure (at least in our world) we’ve already sprung forward!
Spring is, without question, my favorite time of the year. Everything about it joyfully leaps and dances with abundance. There are fresh starts all around – new growth, new life, new beginnings. Colors are vibrant and flashy. Even the air is sweeter.
As I get excited about springing forward into all of this goodness, I think about what anyone and everyone should do before taking a jump…
STOP and take a look!
Assess where you are and what you want to jump into.
Spring is a great time to take inventory of your life!
What’s working well, and what do you want more of?
What’s not going well and needs to be minimized or changed completely?
Is there anything that needs to begin or end right now!?! Put that stake in the ground!
Can you handle more on your plate?
Will your calendar, budget, physical/mental and emotional well-being accommodate more, without over-extending into unhealthy territory? Be careful before you say another “yes.”
Scrutinize your time — is it being well-spent?
How about the dollars in your wallet – are they being wisely stewarded?
Where you spend your time and money tells a lot about you, the condition of your heart and your priorities. Are they where you want them to be?
And, how are YOU? Is your life draining you or filling you?
What one thing would help you most to step into a fuller life; the life that God wants for you? Let’s not forget, Jesus said “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. (John 10:10)
Stop and consider BEFORE you spring forward into another day!! Ask God to open your eyes to see His plans for you. They are plans for hope and a future! (Jeremiah 29:11)
Make the most of this opportunity for a fresh start! Pause for a thorough self-assessment and be intentional about springing forward into what will BLESS YOU and your life.
And, then take that leap of faith!!
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)
